Lost in The Forest

Working with multi-planed backgrounds in Toonboom for animation 2.
I went with a forest so I can create a sense of space with a bunch of trees.
So many trees.

I added Amadi in there to help the sense of space, determining where the ground floor would be and to add some what of a story. I was aiming for the feeling of being lost making the forest seem unsafe.

Can You Rig It?

Our next animation 2 assignment was to do a rigged character animation.
I decided to use Knight for this assignment.

I animated him without his body armor so I wouldn't have to worry too much about secondary motion while animating my first rig.

With The Power of Special Effects!

I finally completed my special effects animation!
Aw Yeah!

video

Overall, I'm really happy with how the effects look.
The fire was extremely fun because of the sporadic way it moves, breaking off little parts. The smoke felt like a victory because I had a lot of troubles getting the "feel" of it's movement right for a good while.

That's all for now. Hope you're having a wonderful day!

You Would Not Believe Your Eyes

If you remember from an earlier post I was working on a music video for my Video 1 class. I can now say that after a weekend of filming and two days of staying up really late editing; it is done.

Unfortunately my video doesn't want to upload here so instead I put it on my youtube.

Animation Warm Ups

Every Tuesday and Thursday at the beginning of animation class we have a warm up where we watch animated shows or movies to the draw poses of the characters.
It's a really fun way to start the day.

I like to get to class early too. The more free time with the magical, beautiful, lovely cintiqs the better. I mostly doodle to get creative juices flowing.

.... or goof off.
Which ever comes first.

Note Card Storyboards

If you remember from Christmas Break I was planning on making a storyboard with my Mole So Die characters. Partly for practice partly for portfolio possibilities. But I had realized that my original thumbnails were really long and it would take some time to complete them all. So I decided to take them in parts and get them done in that way. I've recently finished the beginning storyboards.

I decided to make them with markers on note cards as well instead of digitally. Thinking back to my storyboarding class I never experimented with a traditional media for my storyboards. So I wanted to give it a try and I felt that I was able to get them done faster.
This is the part of the scene where Amadi is taking a dare to prove that he could survive the evil forest for one night. He meets up with his peers to go over the protective wall where he'll travel from there alone to the forest.
