I've been working on a new character for the past few days. His design isn't final yet but this is what he will be looking like for the most part.
Anyways, this is Mr. Fishster. He is also a Artificial Intelligence robot, like TVBoy, although the purpose of his creation is unknown. You can't really study the how a fish bowl effects humanity and human communication or anything. But, his self-assigned purpose is to be the arch-rival of TVBoy. For reasons unknown. He spends his time wandering the city and picking on TVBoy at every opportunity he gets.
In short, Mr. Fishster is a bully.
I'll be sketching him and developing his design more as time goes on. So he shall appear up here again in the future.
We started drawing portraits with conte pencil in Drawing class this week. I miss drawing the full figure in fun poses, but I feel that there is a lot that I need to work on when it comes to portrait drawings. So far my biggest issues are fitting the face on the head proportionality, annnnd making the drawing look like the actual person.
But with DETERMINATION & PRACTICE I shall improve over time.
What do you think?
Any advice would be appreciated.
These are the breakdowns that I went through for the Anticipation animation. I went through many ideas before choosing a final one.
I was deciding between different view points and ways for the action to be played out. My friends and I even acted like cowboys from a Western in the lobby of the dorm to help me figure out how the motion of firing a gun would work. It was an interesting site to see for those who walked by.
I finally decided with a 3/4 view point where the character, TVBoy, will start out facing away from the audience and then turn around to shoot his finger gun.
Last week in Painting and Color Theory we started painting with oils again. It's the first time we've painted with oils since we came back from break and I can't believe how fun it is.
Right now half of the class is painting a model while the other half paints a still life. I'm on the still life side and It is super fun. The still life has a pirate/ocean theme and it has bones and a skull in it. Fun fun fun. My goal is to have the still life look like underwater buried treasure in my painting.
I don't have my under-painting scanned yet, I plan on getting that done today, but I DO have my sketches scanned in and ready.
These are what I have of my anticipation animation so far. There are still places that need improvement, like the turn in the beginning and such. But it's getting there.
This is what I had gotten done over the weekend. I fixed most of the errors and that my professor pointed out but I'm still not sure about the anticipation when the character is about to fire his finger gun.
This was our last week using the ink pen for the time being. I have gotten more used to ink pen and how to use it but there's still much for me to figure out. I feel like I might have been killing the poor nib of the pen while making these drawings. For our last ink pen class we were allowed to shade the model any way we wanted so I experimented with it to see what was possible.
Next week we will be drawing portraits. Be prepared for many faces. :)
These are just some more sketches from my sketchbook and stuffs.
These are mostly character sketches that were drawn out of fun.
I also drew some more sketches of TVBoy and the first Breakdown idea for my current project in Animation 1. I was going to go for a all side view kind of idea so you can see all that is happening, but when I talked with others about it we agreed that a more frontal view would be more interesting. So the final animation will all be at a 3/4 view.
I went through many different ideas with the breakdown so when I get to a scanner I shall post those up here. I also really enjoy drawing TVBoy so I get more sketches of him on here too.
Today .... yesterday in the Animation Student Collective we were given a super duper tutorial on digital painting and how it all works. The information we learned was very useful and made digital painting more understandable.
I decided to give it a try and made this.
This is my character Jack.
At first I wanted to try to paint this in a super realistic style, but then I found these cool paint streak brushes and I liked the style that they brought to the piece. I might come back and fiddle with this piece later and make it better, but for now I am tired.
I 've been feeling that I should post something up here, but I haven't gotten anything finished or scanned to be on here so I am going to post this!
This is the floorboard/basement of my "dream house" that I am making in design class.
We are making an entire house inside and out with Google Sketch Up. Which is a difficult program to work with. Especially if you had forgotten how to use the program over Christmas break. @.@
But after many hours of being frustrated and confused I have finally finish the joists in the basement.
I felt so accomplished that I had to add this doodle.
In Animation 1 we had to make model sheets for the character that we will be using in our next assignment.
This is my character TVBoy. He is a simple robot model with an old television set for a head. He was created with the simple purpose of testing the use of television on human interaction and communication. So as part of his mission, TVBoy spends his free time roaming around his home town trying to communicate with his fellow residents. Some days are more successful than others.
