Christmas Animation Smack-Down!!

A couple of my friends came up with having a animation smack-down and now a bunch of us have joined in. It's going to be super fun, I am so excited!
The goal is to make a 1-4 minute animation that is Christmas themed by Dec 30th.
Best animation wins ... something I guess. Maybe bragging rights. Or hugs. Hugs are nice. :)

The idea for my animation is "Santa! Zombie Slayer!". HaHa yeah. So just picture Santa killing gingerbread-zombiemen to save the elves of the North Pole. ... yeah.
I have not created a storyboard yet or come up with much of a plot besides what I just typed a couple of sentences ago. But! Christmas break is coming up and I'll hopefully have the free time to get work done.
So far, all I've done are some character sketches of the Santa that will be in my animation.

What do you of him so far?
I'm planning tweaking his design more as I plan out the animation.

I plan to post more things for this project on here as well.
I am so excited for this!

Also, some of my pals who are going to be in the Smack-Down have blogs where they might be posting their progress as well.

Ink Washes

These are some ink wash paintings that I made in drawing class.
The first one is a practice and the other two are still lives.

It was very different than what I was used to, but overall it was a fun thing to learn.

Comments, questions, and advice are welcomed.

Three Step Project

This is a project I did in my PCT class.
It's a three step project starting with realistic and then becoming more abstract throughout the other steps.

The 1st step was done with watercolors and was made to look more realistic.

The 2nd step was done with acrylic paint and was more stylistic with subjective colors.

The 3rd step was made in Illustrator and was the most abstract of the three steps.
I really enjoyed doing this project, especially the 3rd step.

Artist Trading Cards

This is something that I was working a while ago.
I bought a pack of artist trading cards and I practiced using them by drawing some of my characters.

Mr. Purple

Mr. Red

Ms. Blue

Mr. Pink

I had fun experimenting with ways to draw the backgrounds.

Sketches of Practice

Practiced drawing some poses with the book "1000 Poses in Fashion" and at the Animation Student Collective. These are some of my sketches.

We were also given a tutorial on how to draw hands.
I found it to be very useful.

Charcoal Gord

This something that I did in drawing class this week. We had to do a charcoal still life drawing within the time of the class. I find charcoal to be a very fun medium to use and I really enjoyed this assignment. :)

On the upper part of the drawing are the thumbnails that I drew before starting the drawing.

These are just some sketches that I made in sketch groups . My friends and I played a game where we named characters from movies and tv shows and trie to draw them from memory.
I doodled some other random things as well.
